Training - Week 5

I'm in training for the St. Louis Marathon. Up to this point, I've been posting training reports on my blog jtj3, but will start posting them here. I'm following a plan created by author and marathoner Hal Higdon. If you're considering a marathon or a half marathon, his programs are excellent.

My previous training reports are accessible via these links:

This week was pretty good. It was extremely cold here (-2F on Wednesday!), so I did indoor training.

Wed: 3 miles on indoor track (didn't record time)
Thu: 5 miles on indoor track (49:07)
Fri: 3 miles on treadmill (39:13)
Sun: 10 miles on indoor track (1:44:47)

So, as you can see, I'm definitely not Speed Racer...but hey, I'm out there and I'm working toward a goal. According to blogger and marathoner Mal James, only .1 of 1% of the world's population ever has or ever will run a marathon.

So, that's it for today...now get out there and run a few!

Hi there and welcome to the RBF! My husband and I are running the half down in St. Louis as part of our HIM training. I've heard some good things about the course.

Next time we have a Chicago Running Bloggers gathering we'll let you know. We try to get together a few times each year either to hang out or for a run. :)

See you on the path!

Hey, thanks for stopping by and thanks for the comment! I hadn't heard anything about the STL course--I checked out the elevation map and it had me a bit freaked, but good to know that you're hearing good things.

RE: Chicago Running Bloggers get together...hey, that sounds great! I'm really trying to tap into the network of running bloggers, so I'll visit some of the folks on your blog roll. And if you can stand running with a slowpoke, I'd be happy to join you sometime!

I'm not sure they come much slower than me.
